Energy Independence is Now Closer Than Ever with Efficiency Nova Scotia’s SolarHome Program

Energy Independence is Now Closer Than Ever with Efficiency Nova Scotia’s SolarHome Program!

Efficiency Nova Scotia’s SolarHomes Program offers incentives to homeowners for Solar PV systems, and now, battery storage solutions.

The goal is to make powering your home using clean renewable energy more affordable than ever. Currently, the program includes up to $3000 rebates available to homeowners on approved, up to 10KW solar arrays.

In April of this year, for a limited time, the program expanded to include up to 25KW Non-Profit Solar projects. The rebate is capped at $0.60/Watt up to 25% of eligible system costs or $15,000, whichever is less. The latest addition to the SolarHomes Program, also available for a limited time, was introduced in October and involves the Home Battery Pilot Incentive. This is available to eligible solar customers for home battery energy storage systems. To be eligible, home battery energy storage systems must be paired with a new or existing solar PV system and be designed and installed by SolarHomes registered installers.

This incentive offers an up to $2500 rebate to go towards your energy storage needs. To note, you cannot use the Federal Greener Homes Program in conjunction with the SolarHomes Program. However, you could divide the project up, greener homes program for solar and SolarHomes Program for battery backup. Something to consider!
