Shift Energy Group is setting the pace in B.C. for Solar PV and Energy Storage and is looking to attract great employees in search of a career in the renewables industry.
At Shift, we have an immediate opening for a Solar Installer to join our growing Field Operations team. As an integral member of the team, the ideal candidate will install solar racking and modules for the interconnection of residential and commercial solar PV systems. On-the-job training will be provided.
This position is a fixed-term position, starting on September 25, 2023, and ending on January 5, 2024.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assemble solar modules, panels, or support structures as specified by system designers.
• Assemble rooftop equipment and properly seal all roof penetrations.
• Perform trenching, concrete work and equipment assembly as required.
• Interface with Crew Lead and Field Manager to ensure compliance with system design and necessary codes
• Provide an exceptional customer experience to all customers throughout the process.
• Additional duties are required as needed but could include assisting with the completion of commercial LED Lighting retrofits and other electrical installations on an ad-hoc basis.
• Work primarily with others on a crew of 3

Qualifications
• A minimum of one year of experience in a residential/commercial setting installing solar panels or roofing.
• Previous Experience in roof work, general construction, or carpentry.
• A valid driver’s license and be willing to provide a driving abstract.
• A positive attitude and ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success.
• Willing to provide Criminal record check.
Working Conditions
• This position involves the use of various tools and materials, including ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, and other electrical equipment of a similar nature.
• The role necessitates the capacity to work in diverse and challenging conditions, which may include exposure to intense sunlight, cold weather, or confined spaces like attics.
• Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in performing tasks at elevated heights, such as working on rooftops, ascending ladders and stairs, and executing repetitive duties that may involve lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
The successful candidate may be required to travel away from home during the week as needed to meet project demands. Accommodations and live-out allowance will be provided at during the duration of any projects out of town.

As an integral member of the team, the ideal candidate will install rooftop wiring, solar racking and modules for the interconnection of residential and commercial solar PV systems. On-the-job training will be provided.
This position is a fixed-term position, starting on September 25, 2023, and ending on January 5, 2024. There is a possibility of an extension if work is available.

• Assist crew journeyman electrician with P.V. system wiring.
• Assemble solar modules, panels, or support structures as specified by system designers.
• Assemble rooftop equipment according to manufacture specifications to maintain building envelope integrity.
• Work closely with crew to ensure compliance with system design and necessary codes.
• Ensure all materials, Tools, and workspaces are clean and organized.
• Additional duties are required as needed but could include assisting with completing commercial LED Lighting retrofits and other electrical installations on an ad hoc basis.
• Provide an exceptional customer experience to all customers throughout the installation process.
