Nova Scotia’s Community Solar Program

Nova Scotia’s commitment to renewable energy takes a giant leap forward with the launch of the Community Solar Program. This innovative initiative, unveiled by the province’s energy sector, promises to revolutionize how communities access and benefit from solar power. Designed to be inclusive and accessible, the program welcomes participation from non-profits, cooperatives, First Nations communities, municipalities, businesses, universities, and colleges. This inclusive approach ensures that a diverse range of stakeholders can take part in the solar energy revolution. One of the most exciting aspects of the program is the opportunity it provides for the development of Solar Garden projects. With capacities of up to 10MW, these Solar Gardens have the potential to significantly expand Nova Scotia’s solar energy infrastructure.  With $5.2 million allocated to assist with capital costs, the program aims to make solar energy more accessible and affordable for participating communities.
